OUTREACH.
HEARING LOSS ASSOCIATION-QC started to solicit area businesses and individuals in the Eastern CT area. We
need people to sponsor one hearing aid for the hard-of-hearing, who apply to us for assistance in obtaining a hearing aid.
This program was started to help low-income persons, without health coverage for hearing aids. We are asking for tax-deductible
donations of $500.00 to cover one hearing aid. See below for info about our "aid to hearing" program.

BABCOCK LIBRARY RESOURCE
CENTER FOR DEAF AND HARD OF HEARING PERSONS.
Babcock Library, the public library in Ashford, CT., is now the home of The Resource Center for Deaf and Hard of Hearing
Persons. HEARING LOSS ASSOCIATION- Quiet Corner , has donated a large number of books and ALDs to the library, all of which
are available to anyone with a valid library card from any public library in the State of Connecticut. The Resource Center
was officially dedicated on December 8, 2001, but that does not signal the end of our need for books and ALDs for the library.
It is only the beginning. We continue to ask for donations of books regarding hearing loss, and we continue to request donations
of assistive listening devices and alerting devices. Your donations may be made at any Hearing Loss Association-QC meeting
or you may contact any officer or director to make arrangements to drop off or have your donation picked up.

"AID FOR HEARING"
HEARING LOSS ASSOCIATION- QC
is pleased to announce its latest program, "Aid for Hearing", to provide hearing aids to those who cannot afford them,
who do not qualify for state assistance to purchase hearing aids, and who do not have health insurance coverage to pay for
hearing aids. In conjunction with Hear Again Centers, and NECLEAR, HEARING LOSS ASSOCIATION-QC has negotiated
discounted prices on hearing aids and audiological services so that HEARING LOSS ASSOCIATION-QC can provide hearing aids to
those who would otherwise go without. We have been able to have five (35) people provided hearing aids through
6/2007.
EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM FOR HOSPITAL AND MEDICAL
PERSONNEL
We have begun the process of assemblying
a program for a presentation to medical personnel and hospital staff which will educate them as to the special needs of the
deaf and hard of hearing. Part of this program will also include an effort to evaluate and implement a program for greater
compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act by our area hospitals. If you are engaged in the medical profession
or serve on a hospital staff and would like to learn more about this presentation or to arrange for the presentation at your
location, please contact us at quietcornershhh@juno.com
