AS OF OCTOBER 2007 WE ARE NOW KNOWN AS HEARING LOSS ASSOCIATION- QUIET CORNER.

HEARING LOSS ASSOCIATION- QUIET CORNER (FORMERLY QCSHHH ) INTRODUCTION

Quiet Corner SHHH started in the fall of 1998 when letters were sent to everyone listed in the TTY Directory living north of Norwich and east of the Connecticut River. Several of the founders live in Ashford so we first met there in the Pompey Hollow Community Room. We later moved across the street from the Town Hall, to the Ashford Senior Housing Complex. We  use the Library's Computer Assisted Notetaker - C.A.N. - a vital asset for hard of hearing people. Every meeting  our hearing secretary, types into C.A.N. what is being said so that all can read and follow discussions. We are indebted to the Babcock Library for their friendly sponsorship and allowing us to use their Notetaker and the Ashford Housing Authority for the use of the Senior Housing Community room.

We were accepted into SHHH in February 1999 and became active in a number of projects locally and in the State.  In October 2000, Quiet Corner SHHH incorporated as a non-stock, not-for-profit corporation under the laws of the State of Connecticut. Our corporation has received tax exempt status with the Internal Revenue Service. ********WE ARE NOW NAMED HEARING LOSS ASSOCIATION- QUIET CORNER*************
